The successful applicant must be able to excel in his/her abilities as a funeral director, demonstrating high aptitude in interacting with families, being skilled in preparation work, have a willingness to learn and help implement new policies and procedures and take an active involvement in our community.
Candidates must have a degree in Mortuary Science, hold a valid Michigan Mortuary Science License or be able to reciprocate from another state. Five or more years experience in funeral services preferred, but not required. Management experience in funeral service a plus.
We offer very competitive compensation that will be based on experience and skill level. This position has a rotating weekend schedule and nightly on-call schedule as well as limited to no after hours removals or embalmings.

Candidates must be professional, compassionate, affable, and intuitive, tuned in to what each family wants and/or needs. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet with families, arrange and direct funerals and services of all types.
- Work with fellow employees, outside agencies, government offices, and vendors to coordinate services, order merchandise, schedule burials, and prepare all necessary documentation for burial, cremation, and transport.
- Embalm, dress, cosmetize and casket the deceased.
- Assist with setup and scheduling of visitations and services.
- Demonstrate proficient use of fax machine, computers, typewriters, EDRS
system, a/v system, and phone system.
- Adhere to state, federal, and company laws, regulations, and policies.
- Make removals during daytime business hours.
- Operate all funeral home vehicles.
- Assist in all other tasks associated with the funeral home and our services.
EDUCATION
- Degree in Mortuary Science from an accredited university.
- Appropriate state of Michigan funeral licensure or the ability to
reciprocate license from another state.
EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years as a funeral director/embalmer preferred. However, positive attitude and a commitment to collaborative teamwork are more important to us than the number of years worked in the industry.
- Computer skills and use of software, including but not limited to scanning, editing, printing, and Microsoft Word.
- Knowledge of DocuSign and social media platforms is advantageous.
- Previous experience in customer service is advantageous.
