GOVERNMENT RELATIONS DIRECTOR

Prior to Cana Garrison joining MFDA in 2011, she held several key positions in the State Legislature. Cana started in 2002 working for State Representative Paul DeWeese, M.D. (R-Williamston), before becoming a political campaign manager. Following the campaign, she became a Legislative Assistant for Rep. Gary Woronchak (R-Dearborn) primarily dealing with constituent inquiries and district outreach. Fast forward to January 2005—Cana became the Legislative Director for Rep. Rick Jones (R-Grand Ledge) dealing with many complex policy issues. In 2010, Cana became Chief of Staff for Senator Jones. In that capacity, she managed the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senate Republican Caucus meetings, legislation before the full Senate for the Senator, and an entire Senate office. Cana is now the conduit between MFDA members and the legislative and executive branches of government.

Cana is also a member of the Michigan Air National Guard.  Technical Sergeant (TSgt) Garrison currently serves in the 217 Air Operations Group at Battle Creek Air National Guard Base as an Air Transportation Craftsman. Cana is a proud Michigan State Spartan having majored in Geography and currently resides in Grand Ledge with a Basset hound named Lucy.
