Lighthouse provides direct services (food, shelter, rental/utility and other financial assistance, crisis referrals) and stability and housing programs that develop and support self-sufficiency. With over 80 years of experience, Lighthouse aims to be a Beacon of Hope to our neighbors who need us the most. Families turn to us seeking support for the most basic of needs such as food or shelter. Lighthouse endeavors to build equitable communities that alleviate poverty in partnership with and in service to individuals, families, and organizations. For more information, please visit https://lighthousemi.org/.
The Lighthouse Distribution Center processes thousands of pounds of donated and purchased food each year to serve our neighbors in need. Volunteer tasks include sorting and packing food, loading food boxes into delivery driver vehicles, preparing toiletry bags, and more. Packing food boxes typically takes place in the morning and loading food boxes into vehicles in the afternoon. Closed-toed shoes are required.
