How to Request PPE and Other Needed Items
In this difficult and trying time, thank you for doing what you do best: caring for families and protecting public health. We are acutely aware of your inability to obtain needed personal protective equipment, (“PPE”) and other required items, such as hand sanitizer, disinfectant and disinfectant wipes.
To request needed PPE, please follow the steps listed in the attached document, and itemized below:
1). Submit a PPE request through your county emergency manager; this is the primary distribution channel. When your request is fulfilled, either partially or in total, the PPE will be distributed from the county emergency manager. Click here for a directory of emergency managers and a breakdown by county.
2). Utilize the Pure Michigan Business Connect network to locate needed items. Pure Michigan Business Connect's purpose is connecting businesses seeking needed items with businesses/manufacturers that make or recently were reconfigured to make those items for COVID-19 response. You have two options to utilize this resource: by searching their spreadsheet here or by submitting a needs request and letting a company contact you (click here).
3). Contact Cana Garrison (cgarrison@mfda.org) at MFDA to inform her what and how many items you requested and/or are obtaining. This information is being compiled at the request of a legislative leader for possible supplemental supply channels that may become available.
In anticipation of a few questions… PPE FAQs:
Q: When will I receive requested items from my emergency manager?
A: It is unknown at this time, when or even whether, the request can be fulfilled. Ask them when you make the request.
Q: Is there a cost associated with requesting items through the emergency manager?
A: No.
Q: Does it cost anything to obtain items from suppliers listed on the Pure Michigan Business Connect website?
A: Yes, unless otherwise indicated on the spreadsheet.
Q: How will I obtain items?
A: Coordinate with your county emergency manager and/or supplier chosen via the Pure Michigan Business Connect.

As funeral directors continue to meet the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, shortages of personal protective equipment (“PPE”) continue to threaten their health and safety. As a service to members, MFDA is working to identify possible non-traditional PPE suppliers, and provide information regarding how to contact them to possibly place orders. Please be aware that MFDA does not independently investigate, or vouch for, these potential suppliers and, therefore, members should make their own inquiries. MFDA does not guarantee when or even whether orders placed with these potential suppliers will be fulfilled.
